How long is a Sleep Study?
The sleep study runs for 6-8 hours. A patient is required to sleep at least four hours. An insufficient study will require re-testing.

Do I have to go to sleep right after the hook-up?
Lights are turned out in your bedroom generally between 10:30 and 11:30 PM.

What if I need to go to the bathroom?
You can call the technician who will arrange for you to go to the bathroom. You can also call for things such as an extra blanket, a drink of water etc.

What Should I bring to my sleep study?
Please bring pajamas, a list of medications, your insurance card, and photo ID. Please also bring whatever toiletries you deem necessary.

Are the rooms private?
Yes, the sleep rooms are private. Each room has a flat screen TV with Cable and DVD player which may be used until the sleep recording begins.

How is my sleep monitored?
Sleep is monitored with small button sized objects pasted to your scalp.

What time can I leave the Sleep Lab?
You may leave the Sleep Lab after 6-8 hours of good data has been obtained. Typically though our sleep technicians will wake the patient at 5am. In the morning you will be asked to fill out a survey and a post-sleep questionnaire. In addition to the night-time study, your Doctor may request daytime testing.

Can I take a shower in the morning?
Yes, shower facilities are available in the Sleep Lab. Please notify the technician the night before.

When will I get my result?
Results take approximately two weeks. An appointment should be made with the sleep physician to discuss results, treatment options, and to see if further testing is necessary.

Is a sleep study covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies cover the diagnostic test. Co-pays and deductibles may apply. Our staff will contact your insurance company to verify coverage. We accept most insurance plans.

Please note if you are not covered for a diagnostic sleep study we would be glad to arrange a payment plan.
